Windshield upgrade suggestions

Greetings,

I'm highly considering upgrading to a taller windshield. The Mountain Home/Boise, Idaho area is constantly windy so anything I can do to alleviate wind blast to the face would be awesome. I've been checking out a few different options and am curious what you all are using. Any pros or cons to different models? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a Zero Gravity that works well for me, but it's pretty subjective. How tall are you? (I'm 6'2" and I slouch, FWIW)

I'm 5'11", and most of the time I slouch too, although when I think about it, I try to practice good posture

Windshield

I made this for my 2011 KLR.

It puts me in a nice pocket of air. No turbulence, and the pocket ends just above my helmet. ( I'm 5' 11" )
The main screen is a "National Cycle" "Deflector Screen". ( One I've had kicking around for several years, but it's still shown on their web site. )
I made the side wings from Plexiglas from Home Depot.
I didn't use any of the National Cycle mounting hardware. I made all brackets myself.
The side wings make a lot of difference in the width of the pocket. There's a space between the KLR's OEM shield, and the National Deflector screen. I think it makes for a different air flow just behind the screen.
I'm very happy with this complete setup.

I think it's called the sport touring model. The biggest they make for the KLR. It works. It's thinner plastic than the stock, but no problem there. I do think there are a lot better systems/screen setups out there. I went cheap and easy.

I'm 6'2", and bought the Cee Bailey adjustable 24" commuter for my 2009. The difference is night and day on the interstate; no more bugs in my face, and it directs turbulence over my helmet. I can also open my shield, and let some fresh air in(wearing glasses of course).

At $260 it wasn't cheap, but well worth it IMHO.

Can't recommend a specific model or height because everyone sits a bike different.
What you want is a windshield height tall enough so line of sight to the road fifteen or twenty feet in front of you will just pass over the top of the shield. That height lets the wind flow over your head. Too low and it hits your face. Too high and you have to look through a dirty shield.
Start with any shield and build it up with cardboard until it's barely not blocking your view of the road. That's the height you want.

MadStad here, it took a lot of adjusting to get it right, but I love it now.
