Clear Hose missing

Hi Folks...a question..I'm kind of a "C+" mechanic...can do the basics...oil change, chain tightening, air filter...etc. My '11 KLR was "cutting out" or running poorly recently, kind of like it was running out of gas. My friend (an "A+" mechanic) took the carburetor apart and cleaned it...with me cleaning the air filter and all of that good stuff. It really seemed to fix it. However, when we put it all back together, I noticed that I no longer had the clear reservoir tube that comes out of the bottom of the bike. I think I see where it hooks on...but am not sure... It looks like there may be a small opening underneath that would be hard to get to. I suppose the thing could have fallen off on the trail, I'm not sure. Any pics or anything of where it hooks on? Thanks for your help...I don't know it it's "necessary" ...but am fairly sure it should be there....Thanks, J.

A clear hose is Used for battery boil off. Connects to outside edge of battery compartment lid. Other hoses, for fuel tank vent and for air box drain are black rubber, IIRC. I lost my battery drain tube long ago, but am running a sealed AGM battery nowadays.

Could it be the carburetor vent hose?

Provides atmospheric pressure to surface of fuel in float bowl, allowing venturi "vacuum" to draw fuel into venturi through jets . . .

Carb will function without hose, whose main function I think is to minimize dirt and crud entering ventilation passageway. If the open end is submerged (as it might be on Generation 1s transiting water deeper than 10"), the engine will die . . . unless the hose is "teed" to an alternate hose at a higher placement).

Parts diagram here show all tube to the air cleaner.

2011 Kawasaki KLR650 (KL650EBF) Air Cleaner | CyclePartsNation Kawasaki Parts Nation

92192A is the only one of any length that hangs down. It drains the clean air side of the air box and should have a plug on the end that can be removed periodically to drain any oil/water from that side of the box.

thanks...that's a big help. I'll see if my local dealer can order one, so I won't have to pay the shipping (!) then I'll have fun trying to attach the thing!

I found it was easier to get to the nipple hidden behind the exhaust pipe if you jack up the rear wheel and drop the shock. I ran the new tube down and forward over the lower rear suspension bolt so that the plugged end sits on top of the right foot peg mount on the frame. It is protected there so it won't get snagged and pulled out again.
