Suggested mods for 08's

Hi all

I have read several different suggestions as to what mods should be done on 08s. I wonder if a few of the members wouldn't mind putting in their 2 cents.

I do 65% road, 30% gravel and 5% off road riding currently but plan to do more off road when I figure out where I can do that around here.

I did drop the bike in a field and need to replace the rad. So, I should get something to protect it from happening again but don't really like the looks of the utilitarian guards I have seen do far. I may just have to bite that bullet.

I like the idea of replace the exhaust but don't really need more power. If I wanted something more likely to get me into trouble with the local constabulary, I'd have bought a different machine.

My plans for mods currently include heated grips, GPS, replace the plastic guard on the bottom with the aluminum one, a 12V powerpoint in my tailpack for charging the cell phone, powerpoint for the heated vest.

This brings me to another question, will the alternator on the 08 handle regular duty plus grips and vest as well?

Thanks,

Ken

suggested mods for 08's

kgadson,
For my '08 I have shortened the oem turnsignal stalks and tucked them in under the luggage rack. Then I mounted some Hyperlites LED tail/brake lites.
I run some soft panniers, a parabellum windsheild, shorter lower h-bars with heated grips, I made a mount for my little garmin, and an alpinestars tankbag.
The biggest, best improvement comes from the reworked suspension, racetech front and rear.
(emulators in the front and a goldvalve kit in the shock professionally installed at gmdatl.)
Oh yeah, and I dropped to 40t rear sprocket, relaxed the engine rpm at any given speed. 60mpg

I have done a small run of ROCK SHEILDS for the engine cases, they extend coverage to supplement the original skidplate. made of sheet aluminum alloy. It bolts on in minutes, hardware supplied. very simple.

Note: not for bashing the bike's bottom side on boulders, they are for keeping rocks that are flying out from under the front wheel from hitting the cases or drain plug. Light duty.

I have them for sale at Only $29.99 introductory offer, with mounting hardware. plus shipping and handling.

money back satisfaction gaurantee.
