Unhappy Givi Bars and Motech Plate-- any hope?

Recently purchased the Givi Engine Guards and SW-Motech Skid Plate. Installed the guards a few weeks ago but was waiting to get my flush oil plug before installing the skid plate. Now, after several hours of trying, I find that they are NOT compatible (although, I read that they should be). Anyone put these two together before? Any tricks to make it work?

I might be able to give you some ideas. I had the same issue on my crash bars and the skid plate not lining up like the MFG originally said it would.

So line it up and show me where the possible interference of mounting is.

Well, I've spent the last hour or so trying to post pics-- from Google Drive or Photobucket-- but they either don't show up or I get this message "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more."

And I also don't seem to have permission yet to use the image hosting on this site, so.....

Any suggestions? I mean, besides making 13 more posts?

Well, I got some useful advice from the customer service at Revzilla. Loosened up the bars some, used a tied down strap to pull them a little closer together, left off the rubber inserts for the front mounts, wrestled it a bit and succeeded in getting them bolted on first. Then the rear ones lined up OK and piece by piece tightened it all up.

Looking at it afterwards, it seems that the Givi bars are not quite even and the right side sits closer to the fairing than the left side. Somewhere in this might be the root of why the front wasn't lining up as it should.

All in all, not too awful, but frustrating for sure. All good now though.

Hey Guys,
The 15 post rule is an anti spam thing. It keeps the spambots at bay. Regulars are usually willing to post up pics for you in case like this.....for the right price!

Unless you are using bars and a skid plate from the same manufacturer you can expect to run into issues. I have Givi bars and an Altrider skid plate. They are currently on the KLR but it took some work to get everything to line up properly. This was not as bad as some other manufacturers products.
