Air Box modification

I tried to limit the dust coming up from the rear tire, to help keep my air filter cleaner.
Here's what I did.
I'll have to wait for spring to see how it works.

I don't see how your filter gets so dirty. I clean mine about once per year.

It may be you ride "very-clean" roads? I do gravel most every ride I take, at least for part of my trip. They are not real dusty/dry, but my filter shows buildup quite often.
If you look under your seat, towards the back, down into the rear wheel well, you will see there's openings allowing dirt to come from wheel well right up into the air box intake. The area under my seat gets dirty. That's what I'm trying to prevent.

I've cleaned and/or replaced my filter 3 times in a thousand miles in dusty conditions and plan to block off the areas shown by the OP.

My dirt bikes filters can get caked in 1 day but not the KLR. Maybe because I usually ride it alone or I lead if it's a group? No worries either way.

This is why I love, Cleanable / Re-Oilable / Re-useable foam Air Filters!

I'm still waiting for any member from Australia to post a picture of their OEM "Dry Paper" air filter. That is 'nuts'.

Maybe "tasman" can show us an Australian dry paper filter?
