Doing the doo question

I'm doing the doohickey on my bike. I have the eagle mike kit with the torsion spring. I also have new gasket's and a rotar bolt. My question do I need to put any kind of sealant on before the gaskets? I was told to put a light film of permatex #2 on each side of the gaskets. I just don't want a oil leak and have to redo it again. Thanks for any help

I put a thin film of RTV silicon on both sides of the gasket. I have done that with both new and re-used gaskets with no leakage. I do think you can install them dry too.

I use them dry; no leaks so far. .....also I've re-used them with no problem IF they are in good shape.

I put a light coat of waterproof grease on each side to make them easier and cleaner to remove and reuse in the field if necessary.

You can also install them dry as DPelletier does.
