Beads or weights?

I finally received my tires. I went with pirelli scorpion trail H series. Im having them installed tomorrow and the guy ask whether I wanted beads or weights. I assumed weights but told him i will let him know tomorrow. He has a computer balancer and is only charging 25 a tire. Is there a bonus to beads over regular weights?

Personally I can not even comprehend how 'balance beads' or 'balance fluid' could possibly "Work"! And, I've been in the 'business' for over 40 years!
The heavy spot of the wheel/tire assembly wants to be the farthest from the center line of the axle on a rotating assembly, correct?
So any 'fluid' balancing medium should in "my mind" also want to 'migrate' to the outer perimeter of the rotating assembly, not the lighter 'inner' perimeter of the assembly!

A computer spin-balancer does Not spin fast Enough to even measure the balance of a wheel filled with any liquid or beads, to the best of my knowledge!

I think static balance with weights is what most people that change their own tires do.

Hmmm. Okay I'll play devil's advocate. I change my own tires and use beads in both my KLR and Goldwing. No complaints with the wheel balance. Both bikes ride silky smooth.

The only thing beads can do is lessen the imbalance by spreading them around the inside circumference of the tire which in effect adds some to the light side. We live in a gravity environment and physics cant be changed.

Actual weights placed in a fixed position are the best and only weigh to balance a wheel on earth!

I am going with weights. but that was my original thought. I just feel thats the best way to go due to the weight being stuck to the actual rim.

Balancing tires

I like to use weights. The kind I use can be re-used.
NoMar Wheel weights.... Wheel Weights
