Windshield extension attempt

Hey all, picked up a 2012 KLR and love it. I'm just starting to do some cosmetic mods.., graphics, brackets etc. I've seen taller windscreens installed on other bikes and have decided to fabricate an extension to my stock screen. Wondering if anyone has done the same? My plan is to use 3/16" polycarbonate and mount it inside the existing screen using custom made aluminum or HDPE standoffs. Any words of advice?

My Windshield

Here's my windshield made from a National Cycle universal shield I had hanging around, and some custom made side wings. I made the mounts from aluminum.

Check out my KLR web page for more info on the screen.

BTW: It works great. I can ride up to 50 mph with my open face helmet shield in full up position. The wind goes just above my helmet, and a few inches away from the side of my head.

That looks great and the weird thing is that we have the same color bike. I was planning on working off the inside, your shield brackets to the outside (front). Do you get any wind foil coming up?

Mine's got the same shape but much uglier.

Starting with the Dakar vertical 10", added little side flaps and a top piece to deflect
over the helmet. I used those faceshields from sandblasting hats. Cuts with scissors.
