Nice deal on the Galfer 320mm brake kit - Canada

I was ordering some bits (SW Motech crash bars, Oxford Premium Adventure grips) and they had the Galfer 320mm kit on for $224 Canadian! Rotor, pads, braided line and caliper adapter plate.

Hard to argue with the value at that price. My bike has 13K KM on the original brakes, so I figured it would be soon enough I'd want new brakes so splurged now on the kit.

In the US it seems to go for around US $260 so this seems to be a steal. Twisted Throttle (US) has it at $290.

No idea why the Canadian site has it marked down, but I'm not arguing. Their price on the Oxford grips (CAD$95) and Motech crashbars (CAD$217) were also pretty good.

Revzilla has the grips at US$90 and US$240. No idea why Twistedthrottle.ca is selling things at these lower CAD prices but I'm buying if they're selling

Wish they sold Pro Taper bars. Those I ordered (ATV High in black) from Fortnine.ca

This looked like a great deal to me. The exchange rate makes it appear especially appealing. But you no longer qualify for free shipping. In fact, to me international shipping costs would equate to almost $70. And I checked with Canadian Twisted Throttle. They say the US government will send you a tax bill down the road at some time. I only ordered something from overseas once. It is not like the government just charges you your local sales tax. There are all sorts of taxes. By the time I got done paying all the taxes I ended up paying more then if I just bought the product in the US. So just make sure you are informed before you make this (or any other international purchase) purchase.

But thanks Tim for letting us know. I hope it works out for you.

Well I'm in Toronto, so it will work out for me fine. Free shipping but we do pay 13% tax.

If anyone wanted I'd be happy to have one shipped to my place in Toronto and re-ship to you. I'd expect it would be around $30 to ship from here.

Like anything you might get hit with your local sales taxes, but in my experience having stuff shipped across the border both directions as long as you stick to regular post, you rarely get nailed for anything.

I never allow anyone to ship things to me from the US to Canada by UPS or other couriers. You end up paying massive brokerage fees. Shipping by US Post / Canada Post results in at worst a $5 fee + the 13% tax on the declared value (which is between you and the seller).

On shipments from the US to Canada via United States Postal Service, Canada Post charges a flat rate $9.95 to move the parcel through customs. The parcel comes right to where ever you normally get your parcels delivered. You pick up the parcel, pay the $9.95 and away you gooooooo..... Much better than UPS etc.
