Mefo Explorer with stock front?

I've been through a lot of tire threads... what I'm looking for is a little more straightforward. I have a new bike and ride a lot of dirt roads. Tried my first off-pavement ride yesterday and that bike was sliding more than I'm comfortable with. Would a pairing of stock front and Mefo explorer rear match well?

Yes the stock Dunlop front tire will work with the Mefo rear.
But the Mefo rear may not cure your perceived instability.

It is a tall, fairly heavy, fairly Top heavy bike with a full tank of fuel. Two wheels on dirt, gravel and mud will always 'hunt' for traction. You are a fairly new convert to dual-sport bikes and dirt, as I recall.
Relax a bit and let the bike find its own groove a bit.

Modify at "YOUR OWN RISK"!

Still riding my 1987 KL650-A1. 85,000+ miles & counting

Mefo Explorer with stock front?

For what it's worth, my mind was put at ease for $90 for a new matching front tire. It could be in my mind but I feel it's a better ride now.

So with instability, I've been making adjustments to the Moab shock and front caps with recommendations from Jeff at Cogent. I feel a definite improvement in stability.

I also found my steering stem was too tight. I initially checked it thinking it might be the opposite. It's coming together. The fine tuning is taking some time... just as I was told it would by a few of the wise and experienced members.
