Erratic idle issues

Hi all,
Any one ever had issues with an erratic idle on an '08' Klr,
I suspect the bike had been sitting for a while before purchase, however started and ran fine. Fuel was immediately topped up with 98 and some carb cleaner and riden daily.
From the outset idle seemed a little errant and appeared hesitant at constant light throttle.
Carby was cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and rebuilt to standard specs by a Kawasaki dealer and was siginificantly better.
For some time it appeared the idle speed was affected by ambient temperature as it would be fine in the morning and erratic in the afternoon, however last weekend it was consistent through the weekend idling at 1100rpm and then Monday at 2500rpm, Tuesday varying from 1000 to 2500 while waiting at lights. In all other respects it runs faultlessly other than a very slight miss at 3050rpm at very light throttle, it has been running on 91 since the clean and does seem to prefer it.
I have an extended mixture screw on the way, and will probably pull the petcock from the tank over Easter and just have look although I don't think fuel starvation is the problem.
Is there anything in the choke circuit that can move/float and cause the idle to rise?
At what revs do the seperate circuits of the carb work? Idle, choke accelerator , power
