Exhaust odor

Curious if anyone else has experienced this and might know why.

2016 KLR 650 with 1100 miles. Since new, when starting while engine is warm I get a whiff of that gas engine dieseling odor.

TIA.

Gasoline has different additives in different regions and even different cities. You may be smelling a difference from that. The KLR does have a catalytic converter so maybe you are smelling that.

I'll concur that JJ has your correct answer.
Especially when newer, some catalytics and some gasolines just plain Stink!

Dan, you might try a different brand of gas for a couple of tanks?

Yeah I was thinking maybe the cat is still burning in or some coatings in it or the exhaust.

The wife's NC700X smelled for the first 2000 miles. My advice (that you'll like) is to ride it more
