Tank Bag front strap

Anybody had any success getting a tank bag front strap around the main steering stem? Doesn't seem to be room to get it through.

ANy suggestions for alternative ways of attaching?

I'm trying to install a Nelson-Rigg Journey Tank Bag.

It can be done but may need a longer strap. It would also help to have a second stap over the top of the steering head to hold the ends of the long strap that goes under the head together so when you unhook the bag the straps stay in place. Wolfman rainer tank bag has a setup like this just for klr's.

Thanks, I can sort out holding it in place once I gt it there - just doesn't seem to be room to feed it through behind the steering stem.

Try running the strap down behind the lower triple tree and in front of the frames down tube and back up the other side.

That's pretty much where I wound up running it, then joined the two ends over the frame with a cable tie.
