The inverted nut insertion & welding was "all too familiar" to my local welder; when I sent him the diagram, he mentioned that he'd done this very repair a few times before - and he had no problem with it at all. He enjoyed the job pretty well, and it took longer to sweep up all those tiny metal shavings from the drilling than anything else...

Oh, and JB Weld (the epoxy) had performed admirably, keeping everything together over the summer, until I finally broke down and called the welder for a more permanent solution.

One of the best Swifties I've seen in a while! A double whammy on the active verb!

Well played, sir, well played indeed.

Several good welding options would be weld the nuts shut with quality metal not the Zamak Kawasaki uses then drill and tap new threads in quality metal. I have JNS pegs and a centerstand so I can weld the brackets to the centerstand then kill the bolts with tack welds. I drilled and tapped my current bolts out to 3/8 24 which seems to be holding up which should be perfect once killed.

Now I'm not terrified of standing on my pegs.

Hvymax,
We hope that you removed that lower suspension pivot bolt, greased the suspension needle bearings, sleeves, seals & bolt. And PLUGGED the 2 little holes on the back side of that cross tube to prevent the large pivot bolt from rusting in, Before you welded those JNS brackets on!

I welded the brackets to the centerstand frame. I will be installing zerks on the pivot bolts before welding the bolts. None of it is anything I can't grind off if I want.
