2016 KLR lowered 2 inches

Hi guys,

I am buying a 2016 that was lowered at the dealer 2 inches when purchased. The owner has the old links and I am just wondering how easy it is to replace those back to stock.

Thanks

That is an easy job.

You will need to get the bike up in the air so that the rear tire is free of the ground, then place support under the rear tire so that it is only just supported. Doing this places no load on the suspension bits and they should stay in place as you remove the links.

It is a straightforward remove and replace job, two bolts and two nuts. You 'll need the appropriate sockets and wrenches, a breaker bar, and a torque wrench.

It is best to break the nuts loose before the bike goes up in the air and to torque them when it is back on the ground again. It's quite a bit of torque and you don't want the bike anything less than completely stable as you break the nuts loose and tighten them again.

Dont forget to move the front forks down if they were lowered also. Should be flush with the top triple clamp.
