2013 klr, stalls going into gear

Hey guys i've got a 2013 model that will start in neutral with no problems but as soon as I select first it will stall. I read another post suggesting roll back in forth in first to try and "loosen" the clutch, or giving the throttle a few blips and selecting first.
I have been playing around with these methods with no success. It will only start in neutral.
With the bike off, in first with clutch pulled it is stiff to get moving but does start to loosen after a while, but will go back to being quite tight after trying to start.
Engine will not turn over in any gear except neutral any help would be greatly appreciated,
cheers
Andrew

I should add, I did about 100kms yesterday, and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary

Probably the side stand safety switch is bad/dirty/malfunctioning/AFU.

And too much slack in the clutch cable. With Maybe just a smidgeon of impatience.
