Cowling Bracket Clearance.

I don't suppose anyone who hasn't folded, spindled, or mutilated their bike knows the clearance between the head and the cowling bracket arms?
Shall we say I made an unplanned modification to mine and since I got it used and abused I'm not sure I can use either side as a guide.

Thanks in advance for any help on this or any comments. Snide or otherwise.
