Replaced Valve stems - still smoking on start up

Hi
I just did the 685 piston from Mike and while i was at it i bought the valve stems from him also. Since replacing the stems the bike now blue smokes at start for 30 secs or so before it goes away. The stems seemed loose when i installed them with one falling off as i pushed the valve through the head. Should i buy new valve stems or did i miss a step?

Humm, when I think of "Replaced Valve stems", I think of tire Schrader valve assemblies.

Most valve Guide Seals that I have dealt with on Kawasaki M/C & ATV's have had quite a 'Grip' on the valve guide. Hard to remove & one could possibly damage the bore for the shim bucket on a KLR if one was not extremely careful.

Maybe you did not fully seat all of your new valve guide seals completely onto the guides?
