So I bought a couple of new change gears for my old lathe so I could cut metric threads. Then I start looking for something to make that needs metric threads!
Then that chunk of 1" aluminum stock catches my eye, the KLR is sitting in the garage and I start looking for round objects on it...
Wasted time? Too much time on my hands? But aluminum is so much nicer to look at than plastic, right?
I get the threads cut, knurled the edge...
But it's a little too large and sticks out. So back on the lathe it goes, and I shave it down a bit and add two holes for either snap ring pliers or needle nose to get it off.
Riding buddy says it's too complicated if you need an extra tool in the tool kit. So then it gets a slot cut into it.
Still working on finishing it off, so it will have to wait for more ideas on wasting effort on silly farkles.

But I did get to ride a 196 mile loop yesterday, so that's good.
