Gen 1 Tank/plastics to a Gen 2 frame

Wanting to put a Gen 1 gas tank and plastics on a Gen 2. Can it be done without major difficulty? I'm not worried about the wiring or headlight problems. Thanks

The fuel Tanks are essentially the same, except the Gen 2 fairing mount tabs vs the Gen 1 shroud mount tabs.

The instrument panel is a WHOLE nother ball game!!

Would you have house the gen 1 radiator on the gen 2 frame too to use the gen 1 plastics? I know where he is coming from; the gen 1 looks better than the gen 2.

If you really wanted to do the whole swap, it's way cheaper and easier to sell the Gen2 and buy the Gen1.....in case you want to do it anyway, then yes, consider the IMS and here's more info on what it takes:

It's kinda difficult to find low mileage gen 1 bikes or ones that haven't been abused. There seems to be an abundance of lower mileage gen 2. If all it takes is a gen 1 tank and radiator/plastics, I can use a round headlight and aftermarket speedo. It's just real hard to find nice gen 1's.
