Does it burn quite a bit of oil, say a quart in 500 or so miles?

It is a 2011. I usually have to put a little more oil in it every two or so weeks, which is like 750+ miles. It won't quite go down a whole quart, but I will usually add more when it is showing about halfway between the two marks.

Well, it sounds like it's burning a bit of oil, which is probably contributing to your early dirty oil appearance. However, you don't need to alter your oil-change routine. Just ride and enjoy it.

KiLler_Ride, when you change oil does the old oil smell strongly of gas? If so it may indicate blow by or like pd said your enricher may not be closing all the way. Im leaning towards ring blow by as you say you need to top off every 750 miles especially if you need to add close to a quart.

Until youre adding a quart every 500 miles or so Id just keep enjoying your KLR.
