It just struck me funny. My wife named my KLR ButtUgly the first time she laid eyes on it. So my inclination would be to call a find like that a Garage Gremlin...I love my KLR, ain't for lookin' at.

Are you aware of the 'Deep Hole' in the lower starter reduction gear bushing in the outer cover? EM supplies the proper spacer when Doo is ordered for 08-09 models.

And Welcome to the Forum.
I purchased a Uni filter to replace the stock and didnít figure out that it had the K&N until I opened the air box the first time. The Uni is still sitting in a ziplock bag freshly oiled waiting for me to get around to buying the plastic frame, which was not with the bike when I bought it.

As for the deep hole problem, I ordered the doohickey from Mikeís and requested the spacer in the comments. I see my order shipped so hopefully it will have the spacer too. Time will tell.

Thanks for the welcome... Iíve been lurking for a couple of years but not active. As a project, the KLR gave way to shinier things. Iím thinking about taking off for a week this summer to ride and was planning to take the KLR so I figured I may as well get started now by doing the things I know need to be done.

Hi Jeff. I’m Jeff 😎. Do you tent camp? If not it might be in your future. LOL. I live in Camden and one of the guys I ride with is in Chesapeake. I too found a lightly used KLR earlier this year and we do the trails rides on some weekends. Trouble is, sometimes the other guys don’t have off road capabilities. But we could just leave them on the blacktop. I don’t know many places but the afore mentioned friend seeks them out and we have a blast. It’s mostly Gamelands and fire/gravel roads but you’re welcome to come out and see if it’s your thing. Alligator river is a great place west of Manteo as are the Gamelands SW of Suffolk. And there are some dirt roads east of the dismal swamp That we’ve been looking for too. There’s also a website that lists dirt roads with some trails in eastern NC. My buddy has the link. I’ll check with him and post it here. Let me know if you’re up for some riding and some Irish American coffee. Makes the stops that much better 😊
