Trailwings have the nickname - Deathwings. Not 100% sure on the facts behind that.
My brother installed one recently and was quite pleased with it on a recent 1000 mile trip. We ride pavement and packed gravel for the most part. Tire probably is okay for that but forget mud and the loose stuff.
The Avon Gripster is only like $13.00 more. at http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=200_201_203.
I have never heard anything but good from anyone who has had them. I have only had mine for a couple hundred miles. I am really pleased so far. I had no trouble with their service either.
My new (used 04) came with the bridgestones TW21, TW22.
previous owner had wrote that tires were replaced at 8000... the bike is now at 11,000.
TW22 looks like it has flattened out in the middle... TW21 has wear at edges like he ran low pressure. they look like they have some life left in them(I am on the fence about changing to new this year).
I am thinking of going to Anakees to try to squeeze a few more MPG out of the bike... 56MPG even with a heavy wrist!
This bike saw several years in Alaska(faded plastic shows) not sure how Previous owner rode... seems like a lot of highway.
