Hoping someone out there can answer a tire question. Recently was given a 130-90-17 rear tire. I have always used a 130-80-17. Will this work? Any problems? Thanks for any help. La mula verde. D:50: own in the Houston Tx. area.
That's the size of the Dunlop D606 I use since it doesn't come in the smaller size. I had to cut my chain guard back because the tire rubbed it but otherwise it fits fine.
The 80 or 90 designation is the aspect ratio of the tire. This is described as a percentage of the tire width.
80% of 130 = 104
90% of 130 = 117
So the difference is 13 mm or just over 1/2" in the height of the tire, measured from the bead to the top of the tread.
