The time limit is 12 hours for the 500 and 36 hours for the 1000 which includes a 12 hour break overnight. I would probably be more comfortable on the Goldwing but I really want to do this on the KLR. I've got an aftermarket seat which should be a benefit. My brother is riding with me but he's thinking he'll ride his Honda CBF1000 versus the KLR. We don't have any bike coms but I may just plug the ear buds into the iPod.

"It's a friggen motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you shit your pants every now and then. "
