Microphone mounting for GoPro Hero2

I've been experimenting with my Go Pro. Trying to get a microphone to work with the camera. I put the mike in my open face helmet.......... To muffled sound! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnGWH1b9Dqo

I put it on my dash, just under the big gages.......... Not enough volume when I talk to it, and to much wind & road noise.

My latest test was to try and get just engine sound without wind, and road noise. I placed it deep inside the front, left-side faring. It's real close to the plastic, and clipped to a bracket in there.

This pix is of my Custom camera mount:

I routed the mike's cable under the headlight, on left side, being careful to keep out of way when turning the fork.
