Did the doo

Done 21 600 km's on the bike
Been talked scared about the doo
Decided to replace it with Eagle Mike doo and torsion spring

Opened up - open heart surgery



Flywheel came off easily



Old doo position



Spring still intact and still quite strong



Done, maybe not neccesary, but it's done and dusted, confident it won't break on me

Your old spring had done all it could do! Looks to me as if its total travel was used up.

Quick question, did you just lean the bike to the left to avoid draining the oil?

Operator,
I think you mean Lean to the RIGHT.? I usually do it that way.

It is recommended practice anyways, if one doesn't have a vertical work stand. Many of the starter parts and at least one balancer shaft spacer have a propensity to fall out and get lost, if working on the Left side stand.

As you sit on it, to the right side, did not drain the oil
Maybe empty your fuel tank
I think some fuel leaked through the small pipe underneath the bike

Yes I meant the right.....one of those days.....luckily I didn't embarass myself in front of a whole bunch of....nevermind....

I do have a centrestand so I was considering just waiting until my next oil change and draining everything, but if leaning it to the right helps keep things in place then I will just hang a couple of straps from my engine hoist and lean it as required.

Is there a simple way of confirming if it was already done?? Do the springs look different than what is pictured??

Looks like you caught yours in time. My spring quit tensioning my chain, it started slapping the inside of the case, I ignored it and now I have to replace the chain... $300 part online

Look at the pictures.
#3 is OEM doo-hickey, kinda' ugly.
#4 is OEM extension spring, got No Stretch left, kinda' ugly.
#5 is an Eagle Mfg. Genuine Work of Art with a lifetime Torsion spring! Notice the 'beveled edge' and the 'Re-indexing' of the shaft hole! Very important little details! Imitators don't notice / don't care.
Purchase EM parts direct or from a few select other outlets.
