Because @kwakaman is new here and has not reached 15 posts the pictures won’t show. Also Google hosting doesn’t work on this site. Blame Google for that.
I'm certain that the minor vertical scarring was caused by a loose kick stand pivot bolt & missing lock nut. Or a bent kickstand, pretty RARE. Then the swing arm stroking Up & Down past the kick stand pad.
That makes since. Too bad that has to happen. I was looking at my bike today regarding that issue and sure enough it sure looks as though that could happen. Guess I'll be spending some time checking that pivot bolt on the side stand.
This is pretty common on the Gen 2. As the pivot wears and a bit of slop gets into it, the spring pulls the stand back and it can rub the swing arm. I've ground the backside of my pad completely off and flush with the tube.
Well dang Paul, I would have never thought of that. I'll be doing that exact thing when I get home from work today. Every time I come on this forum, I get more work to do on the KLR. Oh wait, I like working on the KLR. Nevermind.
Thank you. John
