Twisted Throttle...never again

So I've read on the forum stories of happy campers who bought items from Twisted Throttle. Maybe I'm unlucky, or maybe times have changed, all I know is I'm not happy.

3 weeks ago I purchased SW Motech crashbars (the only ones listed were the new vibration dampened ones), rear master cylinder guard, tank bag, and a black skid plate. I get notification the next day that the crash bars and tank bag had been shipped and would be to me in <5 days. I understand things get back ordered, so oh well, I was happy.

Halfway through those 5 days I check UPS tracking to see about the progress, it reads "return to sender requested" so I think WTF, nice of them to tell me, what's going on. I call them the next day and they tell me about the recall and say that they'll send the tank bag right out, and when the skid plate and cylinder guard come in, they'll send those out.

A few days after this, I get an email explaining the recall and saying that I should have the crashbars on 5/27. Today, 5/31, nothing, so I call them.

She said that they should be sending out the crashbars and tank bag today. And she also says that they don't have black skid plates, like they're selling on the website anymore. She said she could give me the aluminum or the new two-tone skid plates, either of which could ship today. She continued to tell me that they have had the black skid plates discontinued for months. Come on! get your s*** together and don't sell things you can't ship!

Sometimes, the cubbard is bare, kmbsar! (Ask Ms. Hubbard; better still, ask her dog!)

While Twisted Throttle might have communicated and informed you better of the logistical situation, I doubt they're deiberately trying to rip you off.

I'd expect you'll have your choice of a refund or credit; then the choice of a black bash plate from another vendor, if you want one . . .

You're right, they are not trying to rip me off. I was just frustrated and ranting about their lack of consistency. I do believe the best in people (sometimes) and see no reason for them to want to rip me off. Apparently the 2 toned skid plate protects better than the older aluminum or black ones do. Maybe it is worth waiting for.

I have ordered from TT on 5 or 6 occasions and have always had stellar service
I believe they are one of the better vendors in the MC industry

I hope this works out for you and you have a better experience next time!

So, you'd boycott 'em, for lack of timely information about an out-of-stock item?

Your privilege, your choice--do what you gotta do, Crazy Jake!

The ordered merchandise clearly is not on hand; as consumer, you decide the consequences for the shortage and the delay in notification.

I work for a company (That I will not name) That will be fully aware of being out of stock and the argument in house is “Get the money from the customer, worry about the delivery later”….. I cant stand that kind of garbage. If you call TT right now this AM and order the exact same parts that KMBSAR did, what would the rep at TT tell me?? Now remember because of KMBSAR order a few days ago -- there computer system should tell them that the parts are not available. Its not the fact that the parts are B/O, It’s the lack of truthful communication that grabs my @ss….. I look at sites like Amazon that tells you “Same Day Shipping” As garbage, they don’t even have the parts, they are a third party company and have no idea if the part can ship the same day or not, yet the will still grab your extra $$$$ to ship it the same day… When it ships 3 weeks latter, do you get your Extra $$$ back?????

I hear you, Crazy Jake, and understand why you would take your business elsewhere as a result of what you regard as shabby treatment from a vendor.

Take the crashbars and buy a better separate skidplate. TT's plate is prolly not the best but i think you have a good opportunity to build a better KLR, so to speak.

I have had nothing but good experiences with TT. Buying or returning products has always been easy and the Reps are nothing but professional and courteous. Sorry your having trouble.
