Good Evening All Wise and Body Conscious,

So, I have been riding the KLR since late July 2011, and have put over 4,500 miles on her. What a sweet ride. I have added farkles and things to the bike but have recently added a much needed upgrade to my foot were. I firmly believe that your gear will save your life. Or at least increase the odds of tomorrow.

At first I had a pair of Fraser Off Road Boots. They were OK, they did the job but were really bulky (think Moon Boots). Over the weekend I picked up a pair of Sidi Chargers, Off Road Boots. So nice and comfortable, really very nicely engineered. The four aluminum buckles do not give and stay closed, every part is replaceable as is the sole. These could last me 10 years. These are like wearing a pair of really tall Nike Boots. They are new and stiff, but they are comfortable.

I was checking into the sidi boots as well, too bad they only come in size 14 max. I wear about a 14.5 in MC boots my shoe size is only 13 though. Anyone know where I can get good boots in size that will fit? 14ish please post. Thanks!:)
You might try Alpinestars, they seem to run a little big. I typically wear a 12 but 11's fit perfect. Not sure what size they go up to.

Just got some boots but need to send them back---too big in the ball of the foot. I was going with more of a cruiser style because the MC boots at the local shop are for racing and not comfortable to walk in. With a dual sport bike, I may be out a jeep road and want to hike up a hill. Also have a foot issue so can't have too tight of boots.

So I was going to post about what boots. I'm geographically challenged so it's tough to try on anything.

Good Afternoon Scrapper,

They cost about $450.00. They were an investment as each part is replaceable, resoluble and will last me at least 4-5 years. I can tell you they are comfortable. i have worn them for extended periods of up to 10 hours. I can walk somewhat normally. The only detractor is that they squeak, which I am sure is because they are new.

Hi snakeboy.

How are these for day to day riding? Like a quick 15 minute commute to work, or a 5 minute errand. Are they too bulky or anything?

I am thinking about buying full length mx boots to serve me both on road and off.

I'm pretty vehement about ATGATT, but I'd be afraid these would be overkill for day to day riding, unless you have one hell of an awesome commute. That being said, I've never crashed and though to myself, "gee, I was wearing less gear." My fear is the effort involved in donning and and doffing a full MX boot, and the uncomfortable walking factor might make me more likely to skip wearing them with the "it's just a quick trip to..." mentality.

Good Evening Steferf,

I will completely agree with Table; the better the gear, the safer you are in case of.....

That being said, I also have a pair of Alpinstars that I will wear only if i am going downtown. Its a 20 minute ride here in SF. I prefer to wear the Sidi's because they are rock solid and comfortable. It takes a minute to put them on. They squeak some but that will go away with wear.

IMHO get the best boots you can buy/afford. They will last longer, be more comfortable and save your feet/legs in time of trouble.

Snakeboy and table, thanks for taking the time to respond.

New question given the 100+ degree day: how are these temperature wise?

Sweet Feet Protection.

Good Evening Steferf,

I have riden in 85 - 90 degree heat and I was comfortable, I wear the wool military long socks and they keep the moisture to a minimum. I wear the boots regardless.
