Cycle Gear the store.

went looking for some new riding pants today. i've never been into a cycle gear store,so what the heck. i found a pair of first gear pants that i could live with and was quoted $164 otd with my 15% off coupon. left and went and checked the clearance rack up at bmw, some steals up there if you're short and phat. most everything that i would consider that wasn't on clearance was in the $200-$500 range  . even looked in the arctic cat section and those were $300..ouch.

went back to cycle gear and bought the first gear pants. the dude gave me my coupon back and gave me 20% off on the pants  . $155 otd . went with the HT overpants.

i noticed that the in store prices were cheaper than they show online. i'm going to pick up one of the slime mini compressors next pay day along with some 20w fork oil.

check them out if you have a nearby store.

Yeah, they aren't bad... and I've gotten quite a few little items there from time to time. I usually get my oil from them when I'm over that way. But I'll not make a special trip. They are by a HF so I try to time my Cycle Gear stops when I need some crappy chinese tools from time to time.

One thing that I did notice, is that they definately don't cater to the Dual Sport crowd. Mild dirt bike stuff, and mostly street bikes. But like you said, the best time to hit them up is on their clearance days.

They do catalog ordering as well, like everywhere else. I ordered something from them on "Clearance Day" out of a catalog and got it for a great price. Keep that in mind if you want to do the 18" wheel yourself. You can buy the Excell rings from them, but knowing the part number or cross reference bike is the key. Because they certainly won't know what you are talking about.

I recently bought the HT Overpants from Cycle Gear too. The price was awsome, but that isn't the only thing I liked. The service rocked too. I needed to special order my size. It arrived the next day. They also do free tire mounting when you buy their tires (I don't know if that was just the store I was in, or if they do it companty wide). Oh, and the tires are well priced too.

I have had been happy with Cycle Gear too. It's nice to be able to try on helments and other gear, they give a 10% mil. discount.

The stores differ and try to carry what the local riding scene wants. I support buying some stuff locally to keep the stores open and avoid shipping delays on common stuff, even if it is not the absolute lowest price.

Yeah we got one in Eugene. It rocks. Picked up a M/C jack for $59.00. They also carry UNI filters and said they would order me anything I needed. I asked them about MEFOs but he hadn't heard of them, but asked me to get a name and number so he could look into stocking them. Treated me like I was the most important customer in the store. That's rare. Usually I'm just in their perifial (how do you spell that!?) vision on their way to another customer. I went there to buy something, had it in my hand and an employee comes up and tells me they are having a 10% off sale on the upcoming Saturday if I wanted to wait. !?!?! They now get all my business.
