Quick Release Top Case, Pelican?

I would like to use a Pelican 2600 as a Top Case. Does anyone know if the Q/R hardware
can be mounted to the stock rear rack Without using the Motech rear rack?
The Manf. says I need the Motech rack And must attach the Q/R plate to that and then Q/R
hardware to the box.
I'm confused, a flat plate is just that, flat, I am happy to drill holes in my stock rear rack if it will save me $100.00 .

save yourself some headache, if you can drill holes yourself do it.

I have the Pellican 2600 case system on my gen2. I replaced the chintzy plastic factory rack insert with the SW Motec steel one. Then Went with a SW Motec Quick Release case adapter. I would be concerned with how durable the plastic insert is when the quick release mounts are screwed to it. There is a lot of vibration and force there if the case is loaded heavy. I bought my stuff through AVisciousCycle. Twisted Throttle has the same stuff.

I hadn't really considered the possible vibration issue. I currently have a large
Whitney topcase mounted with a Q/R an not had any problems, 4yrs old now.

On My Gen1 the factory rack is not long enough to mount the quick release mounting system.
