Mesh Jacket

I'm considering purchasing the Sliders All Season 2 Jackets with Kevlar. Hi-vis yellow.

I'm curious if anyone out there in KLR land is currently using one of these and what you think of it? I've had a few experiences now where the driver of a car hasn't seen me and I almost ended up going over their hood. This jacket seems to be decent for what I'm looking for, but I'd love any feedback, especially from anyone who uses a mesh jacket.

I have a (cortec?) mesh. Basically, they're a tradeoff. Better than a shirt, but not great protection. But if it's 100+, you can still ride.

They work. They're not air conditioners, but if you like your skin, they're about as good as you're gonna get. Hi Viz is a good call. With a soaked t-shirt underneath I've been pretty comfortable in the low 100s.

The pads are all there...they don't do much about road rash. And they will give you a weird sunburn given the opportunity.

I chose the Hi-Viz Moab jacket and am happy with the color. At first the reflection of it in/on my instrument cluster kind of bugged me, but I don't even notice it anymore.

Remember hot it hot, and dry is dry, no matter what jacket you get. That cool feeling you get is your sweat being evaporated off your body so if you wear mesh in hot weather you will have to hydrate a lot more.

Here is a good write up from iron butt on riding in heat and the role of good gear properly worn. It is a pdf file so save for later if you wish.
