MX vs. DS Boots
Can't decide what kind to get? I bought a pr of MX boots a few years ago to wear while DS'ing. As much as I tried to talk myself into liking them, I just never gelled with them. Too stiff, too bulky, etc. Fast forward to the KLR purchase. There was no way I was getting my size 13's under the stock shifter.
Bought a pr of Thor 50/50 dual sport boots. Awesome boots! They have a stiff sole so you can stand on your pegs all day if you want and not hurt your arches. I've worn them while cutting wood. Heck I've even worn them outside doing yard work after I come home after a ride. I can wear them on my streetfighter too.
I recently bought a pr of O'Neal Element MX boots for our kids since they outgrew their old boots. I liked the looks of them so I was checking out the adult ones. My main complaint with my old MX boots was the overly stiff plastic everywhere. Found a like new pr of O'Neal boots on ebay and bought them. Just got them in, slipped them on, and even though I haven't ridden with them, they are amazing! They're not even broken in yet and they are SO much more COMFORTABLE than my older ones. I can almost walk like normal. They have the newer style sole that looks and feels more like a normal shoe. I don't normally "review" things, unless the product really exceeds my expectations. Time will tell how they hold up, but I doubt that will be an issue.
So if you want a boot you can wear all the time and provides much more protection than leather work boots, look for a pr of the Thors.
If you want MX boots, take a close look at the upper rear part of the boot you are checking out. Leather is good. A lot of big, thick plastic is not only worthless but too stiff and could be painful. These are just my opinions.
I wear the boots from my Stormtrooper costume. I'm just kidding as I don't own one, but if I did....... I've been looking at the low top DS boots but haven't pulled the trigger on 'em yet.
I was taking a pic of my old boots to put them up for sale so thought I'd snap a comparison pic of the above boots.
