Helmet for new rider and perspective KLR owner

I am taking a motorcycle course at the end of this month for my motorcycle endorsement. I will then be in the market for a KLR. But as per class rules I need a helmet. I want something that I could use also on my KLR when I get it. I have found this:

Wat do you guys think? I can't spend over a $100. Any suggestions would be most appreciative.

Its DOT approved, if you like it go for it. I like the full faced with visor just so I won't have to deal with goggles.

If you plan to do any road riding, you'll want a helmet with a shield. If you can't spend over $100 now, you won't be excited to have to spend another $100 later to get another helmet with a shield.

I also prefer the flip up style because during stops you can get more air, drink and even eat some snacks easier. Also, chatting during off-road route finding is much easier.

I guess the main reason is that I have glasses and taking the helmet off and putting it on means removing my glasses both times. Easier to just flip the helmet up during the shorter breaks.

If you're shopping on a budget try the closeouts at Dennis Kirk.

Forgot to ask... sounds like you are a new rider so I assume this is your first helmet? May want to shop local and try some on. Helmets are well known for crazy sizes and are quite different between brands. One brands large is another brands medium. A bad fitting helmet is no fun at all.

+1 on trying them on. The sizes are NOT the same across the board...
