Kawasaki Gel Seat

I recently bought a gel seat kit on a '11 seat pan at a good price used.
Put 203 miles on my '09 yesterday, and the gel seat, while more comfy than the stock one, still gave me numb buns after an hour or so.
Has anyone else tried one of these, and what is your opinion?

I had one as well. I think it was more comfortable than the stock seat, but I didn't care for it on sunny days. The gel would absorb the heat of the sun. Poached eggs anyone? Ouch!

I found out about the "poached" part today.
Daughter and I went to get some lunch. When we came out of the restaurant, I climbed on the seat and it was HOT! 10 miles home, and it was still quite warm.

I was told that a light colored towel or something thrown over the seat when parked would keep it from getting as hot. I bought an Alaskan Sheepskin and that seemed to help as well. I only used the gel seat for one season before going to a Seat Concepts kit (lol, that was back when they only offered one kit for the KLR!).

Gel is tough to use here in the summer. It gets very hot as does everything.

Put 100 more miles on it today. Definitely more comfy than the factory seat. Guess I'll have to carry a towel to cover it during hot weather.

Yup, I found it a way comfier than the stocker as well. I'd probably still be running it if I didn't want a wider seat for highway travel. That's why I went for the SeatConcepts kit.
