video camera?

I am planning a trans america trail ride later this summer. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a video camera to tape some riding? I see a ton of them out there, but need some input from experience. Please tell me your opinions....good and bad.

Thanks

Here's a good sampling from the GoPro wide angle 5.0 megapixel.

It's somehow smooth, even in the roughest conditions. It does tend to flatten out the terrain a little and it feels a touch faster than the ground speed was. You can burn thru a 2 GB card pretty fast and I'd recommend a way to dump the card into something for a trip like the TAT.

Nice videos larryboy. I've read some reports that the GoPro eats batteries pretty fast. What's your experience been? TIA

Yeah, on video it goes thru them pretty fast. One hour of video will kill a pair of AAA's. I start a trip with the rechargables, then buy regular AAA's as needed. Over a 10 day trip I think I went thru 8 batteries. I was doing about 10 minutes of video here and there, then stills every two seconds. I really like putting the stills into slideshows...timing stuff to hit the lyrics just right is fun to me.

Some of the youtube stuff is older, but I flagged all the gopro stuff as go pro that is gopro.
