Noisy Shoei RF-1200 - Why?

I was looking forward to the Shoei 1200 because of so many accolades and recommendations. I love the weight, it really can feel like nothing at all after a while.

BUT... I have more wind noise with this than my Scorpion EXO-AT950. I expected the 1200 to be a home run. It certainly quiets down if you shut all venting but then you're in your self-made foggy sauna. Has anyone else found this noisy? It starts becoming bothersome at 35 and at 45+ its really loud. Also, this is not a problem limited to windy days. My riding has been on calm days, < 4 mph.

I'm on the line between a Med and Large. I went with the large and have since ordered the thicker padding to see if a tighter fit will help.

I'm having the exact same problem.....Bought an RF-1200 as an upgrade from a Shoei Qwest, and immediately noticed it was much louder....like you said it starts around 35 mph. I tried it out on my girlfriend's Honda Shadow, and the helmet is completely silent...only heard the sound of the motor. Thought maybe it was the windscreen I have installed, pulled it off and while it was quieter, still too noisy. Seems to be something in the shape of the KLR itself where it is directing wind straight up under the ears. If i push my shoulders up while riding the sound goes away. Huge bummer given the price tag on this thing and my shop will only take exchanges, and the whole reason i bought the thing was for the pinlock and the transitions visor. Gonna start looking into a skirt for it, or something to that effect. Will keep you posted if i find a solution
