Recently I decided to replace my beloved Shoei 8 Ball helmet and stated looking at some alternatives. I took a hard look at the Bell MIPS helmet and found that Bell and I have a disagreement on where human ears are located on the head. I also looked the Shoei Hornet X2 dual sport helmet but I ended up buying a Shoei RF-SR because I got a great deal on it and couldn't be happier. I'm also ordering the Transitions photo-chromatic shield for it since I had some money left over. I've always had Shoei helmets but looking around now and then just reaffirms their very high quality and comfort to me. For your safety concerns it has their MULTI-PLY MATRIX AIM+ SHELL, DUAL-LAYER /MULTI-DENSITY EPS LINER and their EMERGENCY QUICK RELEASE SYSTEM (E.Q.R.S.) that allows emergency medical personnel to easily and safely remove the cheek pads from an injured rider's helmet and remove the helmet without inflicting further injury. I don't think you'll find a safer helmet on the market.
