650 / 250 sump guard....

Hi all

Bit of help and guidance please...

Does anyone know if the 250 sump guard is anywhere close to being able to be fitted to the 650?

I appreciate there'd be a bit of fettling involved (believe you guys over the water call it 'farkling'?!...), which I'm happy, and capable (I think!), of doing.

I can find a used stainless steel 250 one pretty cheaply (around 14.00 / $21.00) including postage and if it'd be somewhere close, to fitting, I'd buy it.

KLR650s are pretty rare over here and so are the after market parts, hence the question!

If not, I'll get the welder out!...

Any help / direction greatly appreciated.

This is the 250 guard:

The center hole,{the one that mounts to frame front} may line up,,,but the two rear mount holes look like they would not line up,,if you want I can measure the hole dimensions{from hole center to hole center} and get back with you,,and that way all you would have to do is drill holes ,,get bolts, washers from hardware store and throw it on. The 250 skidplate also looks shorter in overall length,,you could always "add" some plate steel strip to rear portion of skidplate.. Welcome to the site!

Thanks scooter, that's a generous offer. Appreciate the welcome too - thanks!

Do you think it'd be wide enough? As you say, I can extend the length, but obviously width would be a slightly more difficult obstacle to overcome!

Maybe post the dimensions of holes,,the width of plate, ect. But now that I think about it,,,whats the width of the frame below MTR? I think the 650 MTR is wider than the 250,,,but not totally sure. Maybe we should start with that dimension first,,have you tried to "mock up" the fit of the 250 plate to your 650,,it may not be wide enough for the 650 frame and MTR,,,not sure.
