Talk about cheap...

Here's my contribution to the KLR rep:

The 7 dollar top box...

Got it at Home Depot. I took the rear plastic shelf off and used it as a template to drilled the box. I bolted it back into the stock mounts with longer bolts and t-nuts to protect the plastic. Not a good picture but you can kind of see the bolts...

OK so it was about $8.50 with the hardware but hey still way cheap. My kids are embarrased and even I'm having second thoughts!

I just wanted something more secure than a duffle bag to stash my riding gear when I take the bike fishing. I can padlock the box with my boots, jacket and pants inside. Flyrod pack pole and the rest of the fishing stuff fits inside so I think it's going to work. I'm commuting with the box on and will take it out on some dirt to see how it holds up before a trout trip.

You got a drain hole drilled in that? That box is not one bit waterproof.

It does make for a nice illusion. People will look and wonder how the hell that stays on without bungees.

It never rains in California.

At least not where Spec lives.

It's a good point, though. Spec, how you gonna let the sand out?
