NW Oklahoma

I am a new KLR owner in NW Oklahoma. I'm wondering if there are groups or individuals who organize rides in OK or the Texas panhandle area.

I'm 2hrs east of you, north of Enid. I don't know of anyone in this area that organizes rides, but there is another klr rider in Ponca City that recently posted on ADV. I'd be interested in going on a ride sometime. Maybe go see that big canyon that is near Amarillo.

Welcome to both of you! I think you'll enjoy it here, and I hope you can get some rides going!

Sounds Good

I purchased my KLR last November and would certainly like to do some riding now that the weather is getting more amenable. There are some potentially decent rides in this area (Woodward OK) which could be part on asphalt and part on unpaved county roads. There is some pretty nice scenery in the hills and canyons north of Mooreland that might be nice.

Welcome to the forum, Jimbo54. A long time ago, I used to work on a natural gas-drilling rig outside Sayre, just to the South of you. Good luck with some rides!

Wow. Another OKIE!!! I'm up in Ponca City. Good to see more riders. There is one other guy up here in the Ponca area, but i have never been able to connect with him. Most of us Oklahoma riders stay connected on advrider in the reginal forum. we have two threads there, one for metro guys and one for all the state. If your ever up here in my neck of the woods let me know. I have a young son so i havn't been able to travel very far lately.

If you get a chance check out the "oklahoma adventure trail" its in the laying down tracks section over on advrider. We have made a ride that circles the state with mostly dirt. pretty cool deal. I would post up a link, but i don't have enough posts here for the forum to let me.

Reply to OKlr

I will check out Advrider. I will also check back here. If you hear of any rides in OK I'd like to know about them. I'm currently mostly checking out county roads etc. in my area (NW OK).

I Just got my KLR, an '03. I'm in Medford. Maybe early some evening we can take a ride out to Salt Plains and cruise through the wildlife area, then stop at the artesian well to wet our whistle before we head back

I just bough my KLR in August. Now that I am a part of the dual sport community, I thought it would be fun to orginize a rally/ drive through my ranch and 5 miles away to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Here is the thread for the Rally.

The ranch is 15 miles from: a 60,000 acre wildlife refuge, wichita mountains, mt. scott, Medicine Park, and Ft. Sill. (see links for all the info)

Restaurants, (over priced) grocery, fast food, and gas: is located in Elgin, OK (5 minutes from campsite). Walmart is 15 miles away.
Also, there is the Comanche Spur Casino, 5-10 minutes form the campsite.

I just thought it would be fun to organize an event to meet some other Dual sport riders in the area. Let me know if you want in!!

There is also a thread on ADVrider.com. Here it is.
