I like the milled out extra end cap, puts a nice finished look on the unit.

Looks great! I like the recessed test plug; like you said, adds some extra protection for the wing nut. Nice job and I'm sure you'll find it very handy!

Update, have not had any issues with front wheel contact. Bonus... Dicknobs at Lowes closed the store due to underperformance! Sorry to see the jobs go, but don't miss the incompetent employees.

Finally got mine done!

I PM'd sardog1 and asked him how his tool tube had held up. This was the very nice response that I received.

"The tool tube works perfectly as intended. It survived the Continental Divide Ride only suffering a broken hose clamp (mainly due to poor placement on my part). It holds enough tools to service/repair things on the trail and off. I still use the tools in the tube for all repairs on the bike and am adding/subtracting as I see fit. Have not had anyone mess with it and have parked in some "sketchy" areas. Many folks ask what the plumbing is for?!!! All said, I wouldn't change a thing."

Based on that I did my own only changing out the hose clamps for stainless u-bolts.

Sorry for the links. The site wouldn't let me post URLs since I don't have 15 posts.

Thanks for the idea and help sardog1.

Hey Jason,
Great idea using the stainless u-bolts! Glad it's working out for you.

Most riders know those 4" pipes are for tools not water. They also know tools are expensive and they may need some.

I would consider a locking mechanism. Maybe just a loop in a cable hanging next to the wingnut, a hole in the wing of the nut and a small lock.
