Skid Plate Project

I was inspired by yamadog to share my skid plate project with you guys. It's not finished, I will be adding some vent slots or holes, haven't decided yet. And I can see now it will need to be reworked in order to fit the tool tube I plan on building, thanks to yamadog again. When it's finished it will be black power coated.

Props to Planalp for helping me with my first thread start.

Nice job! That thing looks rugged enough to put on the front of a locomotive.

It's 5052 Aluminum Plate.

I should clarify, I didn't do the welding, I had a welder at work stitch it up. Also I used the press brake at work.

Great looking craftsmanship! You might want to extend the bottom all the way back to the footpegs to help protect the backside of the motor. The oil plug is a very vunerable area on the bottom of the motor.

I had the same thought, the overall shape is closely related to stock. Anyway I have an idea on how to deal with it, stay tuned.

Thanks guys for your encouraging comments.

Happy Thanksgiving
