Question What's the Best Helmet Cam??

Recent thread about mounting a camera got me thinking again about possibly making the purchase.

As with anything else these days there are a lot of choices to confuse the buyer. No one I ride with has one that I could try or quiz about features and what to look for etc.

There's the Liquid Image Ego, Contour Roam, GoPro, Drift, etc. Which one do you buy??? I don't want to break the bank for it and there seems to be some Boxing Day sales on right now. The GoPro Hero 2 looks to be discontinued and has some clearance pricing.

So those in the know what are your suggestions, recommendations???

My wife got me a go-pro2 for christmas and wait for some clear weather to test it out. I have been researching for a few months and I would narrow the top 2 IMHO to be the contour and the go-pro2. HD quality with up to 120 frames per second, which is needed for the speed on motorcycle...

I just ordered the Drift Innovation Ghost. A bit more expensive than the GoPro, I liked the fact that it came with a preview screen and a remote. Also, an adjustable lens so you can shoot from any angle. Check it out and see what you think!

I noticed a few new much cheaper brands over Christmas. I wonder how good they look?
It took me a long time to finally bite the bullet and get a Hero HD but I'm glad I did. I went with gopro due to the good sound quality.

I see that just like anything else in life you get what you pay for.

Significant difference in sound quality with the GoPro 2 and 3 and also in the price. Hard to justify after getting a new digital SLR recently. Don't think the boss would be so quick to approve but the info is great.

I got the Contour GPS, mainly I use it riding single trail and liked that it mounts on the side of the helmet rather than high on top as the GoPro does, I could see the GoPro getting ripped off the helmet by low branches too easily.

Also the GPS function in the Contour is great, gives altitude, speed, Google maps positioning and a whole lot of other stuff.

I'd heard that they made some improvements there, but I had no idea how much! The gopro 2 topped out at 5 kHz, but the 3 went to 17 kHz! Unreal.

I recently got the Drift HD Ghost and while expensive (same price as Hero 3 Black) the quality is incredible. Mounted well to my Arai Helmet quite nicely and comes with a remote as well as a 2" LCD screen to view any footage on the fly. Well worth the money!
