Instrument Rain Cover

I have a watch & thermometer mounted on my cross bar. I wanted to protect it from rain, so I came up with this cover. ( The same material may be used to cover a GPS )
It's the clear protective stuff that sticks onto the bikes plastic to prevent scratching or scuffing.)

I got my sheet of protectant from Whitehorse Gear several years ago. ( Can’t find it in their newest catalog? )
Here's a link to the stuff they have listed on their on-line catalog..... http://www.whitehorsegear.com/spf-10...rotective-film

I pasted the two pieces ( cut same size ) back to back because it is sticky backed material.
I used cable clamps to attach the upper part to cross bar, and folded the sheet over, and held it on place with a home made screw.
To make adjustments to watch or thermometer, I just unscrew the hold down screw, and lift the sheet up.
Here’s some pix’s of the project… http://www.powers31.info/2011_KLR650.htm ( Scroll to last item on page.)

My material shows some bubbles, in the pix's, because it's been sitting around for a few years. I'm sure the new stuff would not do that. I used this sheet when it was new on my Gold Wing, and it's still clear on the saddlebags after 8 years of use.

Good Idea.... One reason I haven't put in a dash with the clock and all that is I could never think of a way to keep the rain off!
