GoPro Hero2 Camera mount on my KLR

Thought Iíd share my GoPro Hero2 camera mount on the KLR handlebar.
Iíve been experimenting with different methods to keep vibration to a minimum.
So far this is the best Iíve been able to get, except by mounting the camera on top of my helmet.

Hereís a short 4 Ĺ min video demonstrating, gravel road, street, and off road conditions. http://youtu.be/q9ZjYciERiQ

The video was shot at 1080-30 11 Mp

This is link to my KLR web page ( pdf file) showing different images of the mount.

That looks really effective- I didn't notice any vibration in the video.

Windscreen side deflectors?

Larry,
Noticed ur windscreen & side deflectors in the video. Could u share info & more photos of both. I especially like the deflectors. I get a huge amount of air around the sides of my screen between the hand guards & the wide screen. Thanks, Phil

a buddy and I are going to get gopros and mount them for some trips like you did. Have you tried mounting it on the front fender at all?? I was thinking that a person could use the remote and get some good shots from there.

I initially tried to mount it in front of my windshield. Way to much vibration.
The right mirror/handlebar mount is best so far. The more weight I put on the mount, the better the video. There's still some vibration, and a kind of wavy type of effect from the vibration at certain rev's.
By far the helmet mount is more stable, except for head movement.
The trouble with helmet mounting is, I tend to tilt my head which gives a slanted horizon in the video. Getting the mount angled properly takes some trial and error to make a "level" video.

Sorry for delay. I must have missed your post.
Here's a pdf file showing more windshield detail.

There's more on my KLR web page.. http://www.powers31.info/2011_KLR650.htm
(Scroll down on page to windshields heading.)

I made the mounts from aluminum sheet stock. ( lot's of trial-and-error in bending the brackets. ) I'm real happy with the end result.
The side wings made a lot of difference in how much wind gets through to my shoulders and gives a larger "quiet" pocket in the seating position.
I made them from regular 1/8" Plexiglas from Home Depot.
The more vertical the main shield the more protection
it gives.

Seriously, I get more helmet buffeting from my GL1800 Gold Wing shield.
( It's lowered enough for me to just see over. ) Might be better if I raise it, but I like to be able to see over the top.

Nice work. I finally gave up on my handlebar mounting because of the vibrations. They just got worse when I put the Lexx pipe and then the LeoVince pipe.

I like your tape spacer method on the slide mount. I did try putting a little paper on mine but it's a pain when you take it off and put it back on. What type of orange tape are you using? Does it get gummy after a while or when it's hot out?

The tape was some ? Teflon? type stuff I had laying around in my shop.
It doesn't seem to be softening up in heat, but then I don't leave the bike out in really hot Sun much, and here in N.H. it's not like places in hotter climates.

Very nice. That is pretty smart to use tape to dampen the vibrations. Same way a shock would work... I'm assuming if you could find or fashion a rubber softener it'll helpa lot more.
