2008 KLR - Accessory Source

I noticed that the 2008 KLR has additional juice coming from the alternator to support all the DC goodies that need to be added such as GPS. I know that a can make a straight run back to the battery with an inline fuse but was curious if there is a "plug in" to the harness somewhere inside the fairing.

I'd like to add a cigarette adaptor for removable devices and potentially add a direct line in form my GPS.

Any suggestions other then a straight run to the battery would be apprectiated.

The older KLR's (even last year's model) had an extra set of wires near the headlight that were there to run a Euro style running light. It was something that you didn't want to run an electric vest off of, but something with little draw, such as a GPS would be perfect. I'm not sure if the 08's have that same set of wires, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

That lead (pos/neg) is switched by the key, also..

Because I run an electric vest, I ran a 10 gauge fused set of wires to a Powerlet style plug that I have on my left side rear number plate. Plugs in under my leg. I use it for my electric vest and my air mattress blower..
