I got a Cee Bailey Commuter tall. They come with an aluminum brace for the part behind the dash to stiffen up things. Kawasaki KLR 650 2008 Windshield, Now available is our New 2008 KLR 650 windshield which has an additional 5th hole in the center of the top span for additional rigidity

I cut it in half from left to right and overlapped the top down over the bottom about 1" and drilled three small holes (1-left, 1-center, 1-right) for three small thumb screws and wing nuts with rubber faucet washer to bolt the pieces back together.

I ride with it up around town and on the highway. When I get to dirt trails I unbolt it and flit it over and rebolt it at half height so I can see the rocks, holes and ruts right in front of my tire.

Here is a crummy photo, but you get the idea. When I hit the dirt, I just undo three wing nuts and flip the top half over and re-bolt it to the bottom half. Doesn't take long.

Just ordered the tall windshield from klr650.com. The stock one was cracked and about the same price to replace as the tall one so I figured I will give it a try. I rode on Saturday with no shield and I thought I had more buffeting that with the stock shield but it was a windy day and I wasn't on the freeway. I'll post my thoughts after the new one arrives.

the windshield should be at the height of your shoulders. so blasting your neck seems correct.

I found taller shields make annoying noise inside the helmet like vibration or turbulence.

I know this cause my windshield on my 1200GS is adjustable in height. i keep it on the lowest settings.

On KLR the wind protection is great, this bike is well designed in all aspects.
try a taller windscreen before committing to it, you may not like it.
