Another IMS10 pump failure
My IMS pump failed again.
On the right is the cause of the failure, a distorted membrane. The one on the left is used, but serviceable.
Note the distorted, slightly domed shape of the failed membrane. This is enough to kill the pump. The one on the left is almost perfectly flat.
This one had not seen any hot climate. I've seen much worse, almost perfectly domed rather than distorted, in a membrane that got hot.
Since this one had not seen heat I'm sort of wondering if ethanol may be the culprit. I'm not wasting any of my good Scotch trying to find out.
If you have an IMS10 make sure that you're carrying a replacement membrane and gasket set and know how to do a field replacement.

'How' are words so important they cannot be too often used.”
